Review || Clarins Extra Comfort Foundation SPF 15

 Clarins Extra Comfort Foundation // £35.00 // 30ml // Shade : 112 Amber

Hands up if you love a full coverage foundation that gives an amazing dewy radiant glow? *hand up* - Matte finish lovers may want to look away now, as we are about to talk full coverage creamy and dewy.

When it comes to foundations full coverage is an absolute vital factor for me. Don't get me wrong I can deal and just about accept a medium coverage but anything below this is way out of my comfort zone. My skin naturally is clear and spot-free, so I am fairly lucky in that field, but pigmentation wise it just does not cut it, I envy people like Michelle Keegan who even without a scrap of foundation have a flawless even skin colour. My skin on the other hand tends to be pale, pink pigmentations here and there alongside a few random freckles and I absolutely hate it. Hence the reason that I love full coverage - something that gives me an airbrushed perfecting finish with a long-lasting radiant glow and Clarins Extra Comfort does not let me down on this!

When glancing at this foundation on the Clarins counter my initial reservation was the heavy glass pot that the cream is presented in - I have never explored beyond pump technology bottles or squeezy tubes, so something that resembles a face cream container seemed somewhat strange if I am honest. To help get the product out of the pot and to avoid bacteria infested hands dipping in and out, it includes a mini plastic spatula (or so I am told anyway as mine must have fell out!). Visually, the product does project high end luxurious brand, heavy glass pot and gold reflective lid, which for the price tag I would be slightly disappointed if it didn't!

First things first is skin type, due to it's anti-aging nature this foundation is aimed more towards dry/mature skin which is perfect for me as mine tends to be in between normal and dry. Oily skin types would usually tend to stay clear of a foundation such as this, as due to the dewy formula they have a tendency to slide of your face come mid-day, however, having spoken to people with oily/combination skin types who have used this, they have said that with a bit of powder this foundation remained on their face throughout the day.

The product consistency itself is very thick and creamy with a slight floral scent which was a breath of fresh air compared to the usual paint like smell that MAC engulfs me with. After applying two thin layers, my full coverage was more than apparent and easily achieved in my opinion. A little goes a very long way with this product so if you are more of a medium coverage person then you only need the tiniest amount to achieve this! The product blends like a dream, and true to it's name *extra comfort* it makes my skin feel so moisturised whilst smooth, silky and soft. It gives such a fresh-faced dewy sheen which made my skin look glowing.

The longevity of a foundation for me is a huge testing point, there's nothing worse than getting home after a long day to find a ghastly face of patchy worn off foundation. After nine hours out of the house this foundation still looked as flawless as ever, and the only touch up I had to make was under my eyes (which is a standard procedure regardless of what foundation I use for me!)

Finally colour range, it is currently available in nine shades and as an frequent tanner I always struggle with finding that perfect warm colour to match my bronzed skin. When I swatched through the colours at the counter I was so stuck in-between shades. The 112 seemed so cool toned compared to what I usually go for however the shade above this, 113 in which was more warmer was just way too dark. In the end I opted for 112 and I then build up my bronzer around this which seems to work pretty well. Just for reference I am a MAC NC40 for those who wanted a rough guide!

Wow. Sorry for such a long in-depth ramble but there was just way too much about this foundation that I wanted to share with you! I hope this helps you - If you love your full coverage foundations with that dewy finish I really do recommend you try this, you will not be disappointed! I know that the hefty price tag of £35 *gulp* is a massive splurge on a foundation but the amount of product you need for a full face is so tiny compared to what I would usually use, it will no doubt be lasting me a fair few months to say the least.

Let me know your thoughts! Have you tried this foundation? What do you think?
